About Us

How/when/why did endearing start?

endearing was formed in 1995. Why? Our friends were putting out music we liked and we thought it deserved to be heard. This remains our guiding principle to this day. There is no defining genre or pattern. If there is a mandate, it is to release music we like from people we love. We have diverse tastes and find a variety of music stimulating and challenging so this has resulted in a diverse catalogue over our 13 years. We hope you enjoy what you hear.

Who works at endearing and what do you do?

Blair has been involved in endearing since it's creation; his "official" title is President. He is responsible for publishing, licensing, A&R and is also the company founder.

Heather joined endearing in 2001 and is VP Finance & IT. Recently, she also took on the management of the Intercontinental Pop Exchange sub-label. She is responsible for the web site, accounting, ads and graphic design, and grants.

Ken joined endearing at the start of 2003 as label Publicist. Ken is the singer/songwriter for Radiogram and, as those of you who follow Radiogram know, he's an amazing publicist.

How can I buy endearing releases?

If you are a customer looking to buy personal copies of our releases, you can purchase them directly through endearing using our online store. To visit our store, click here. Every order receives a free endearing CD sampler. You should also be able to find copies of most of our releases at retailers throughout Canada.

Please see pricing in our store pages. All prices are in Canadian Dollars, shipping prices are added after you enter your country however should be mentioned in the description of each product.

Mailorder
Please make all cheques and money orders payable to endearing records. We can accept cheques and money orders in either Canadian or US funds. Cash also works, just conceal it well, please as we can't be responsible for cash lost in the mail.

Can you accept credit card orders?

We can accept your credit card and online orders via Visa, Mastercard and Paypal. We have a secure server for our online store, so rest assured that your credit card information is completely safe.

Just add what you would like to purchase by clicking on the "add one to basket" button. You can view your shopping cart at any time by clicking on the "basket contents" button. When you're ready to make your purchase, click on the "checkout" button in your shopping cart.

How long will it take for my order to arrive?

We appreciate your order and it will be filled and shipped within 2 working days of your payment (barring unforeseen circumstances). Please be aware that although we ship every mailorder via Airmail, Canada Post can be very erratic, and shipping can take longer than you expect.

Airmail within Canada generally takes approximately 5 - 7 business days (approximately a week to a week and a half from the ship date).

Airmail from Canada to the USA generally takes between 7 - 10 business days (approximately 1 to 2 weeks from the ship date), but has been known to take 3 weeks or more, especially if the package gets stopped at customs.

Airmail from Canada to anywhere overseas generally takes 10 - 15 business days (approximately 2 to 3 weeks from the ship date), although for some reason, shipping to the UK and to Japan tends to be quite fast (within a week).

You will receive an e-mail from our order desk once your order has been filled and the package has been shipped. If you don't hear from us within a couple of days of placing your order, please feel free to contact us at orders@endearing.com.

What is your refund policy?

Damaged or defective goods
All damaged or defective items must be returned in the condition in which you received it. Before returning an item, please e-mail us at orders@endearing.com or call us at 604-773-0115 and let us know what the problem is. We will provide you with authorization for the return and a return address.

Missing package
If you have not received your package within the timelines below, we will re-send your order at our expense.

• Airmail within Canada: 15 business days from the ship date.
• Airmail from Canada to the USA: 20 business days from the ship date.
• Airmail from Canada to anywhere overseas: 25 business days from the ship date.

Incorrect address provided by customer
If you accidentally gave us the wrong address to ship your package and it gets returned to us, we will only charge you for re-shipping the package.

All refunds will be credited to the credit card used or to you paypal account. If you paid by cheque, you will have a choice of a refund by paypal or by cheque. We will process refunds quicky and you will get an e-mail from us once the refund has been credited.

Where do your bands get their merch made?

We've recently launched a new endeavour called endearing merch. We can custom make full-colour 1" buttons for you, your band, your label, your organization or even if you just want some buttons with pictures of your dog or your niece on them.

Our prices are extremely reasonable: 50 b&w buttons are only $20 CDN plus tax and shipping. 50 full-colour buttons are only $25 plus tax and shipping. We can do the super-popular trucker hats too -- e-mail us for pricing and details.

Are you hiring? Can I send you my resume?

The short answer to this question is no.

The long answer is that we are a small, independently operated label, and while we would love to have more employees (and there is certainly enough work) we just can't right now. If you want to work in independent music, please support independent labels and musicians by buying lots of independently released CDs!
